Many businesses already have a reasonable core system, but still rely on spreadsheets, copying, chasing, disconnected information and manual work around it. I help work out whether a focused layer around those systems would make the day-to-day job easier to manage.

Choosing the route
Automation is not the same as custom software
Simple repeatable rules may need automation. Disconnected services may need integration. A missing workflow may need a small custom tool. Complex judgement may need human oversight rather than a fully automated step.
AI may assist one part of the process, such as classification or drafting, without being the main answer. The important thing is to design around how the work is done and where the business needs more control, visibility or consistency.
Fit around the business
I do not automatically recommend replacing existing systems. Often the better answer is to add a focused tool around software the business already uses, so staff can handle the important parts of the workflow without forcing everything into a large platform change.
Start with a contained pilot
A small defined project is often a better test than a large transformation programme. It limits disruption, makes the scope easier to check and gives the business something real to assess before committing to a wider build.
